A rough estimation of the active extreme on the two sides in American politics:
One side greatly approves of horizontal powers while fearing vertical powers (but doesn't adequately acknowledge the dangers of horizontal powers, foolishly).
The other side greatly approves of vertical powers while fearing horizontal powers (but doesn't adequately acknowledge the dangers of vertical powers, foolishly.)
